Ottawa to invest $1.9B in GO Transit’s regional express rail project

"This is all very fine and well, but even if GO RER doubles capacity, it won't be enough to meet the City's growing need by the time it is all done - Metrolinx studies indicate that the addition of the new SmartTrack stations will slow GO down enough to discourage existing riders from using it - Fare integration will likely attract more than enough ridership to offset this, but GO won't be faster as it could/should be - Scrap the new SmartTrack stations; increase the service frequency as GO RER was originally intended to do; leave fares as they are; and build the Relief Line and the three-stop extension to the Bloor-Danforth Line"
