My Proposed MBTD (Mississauga-Brampton-Toronto-Durham) Monorail or HERT

My proposed Monorail or HERT (High-capacity Elevated Rapid Transit) connecting Scarborough Centre with Pickering/Ajax, is routed along Lawrence Avenue, Kingston Road, and Highway #2 – It crosses the Rouge Valley Park at Highway #2, so, other than beefing up the bridge, it will have very little environmental impact on the park (other than making it more accessible to everyone) – The idea is that the HERT or monorail eventually be extended along Highway #2 for use as local transit for each community along the route (Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, and Clarington/Bowmanville; while at the same time providing options for express service between and for bi-passing the communities

I am thinking 30 to 50 years out from now - The proposed BRT (DRT Pulse) will suffice for Pickering/Ajax and the rest of Durham Region for now so there is no urgency other than to plan for it now - The reason we need to plan now is that the land needs to be reserved now – This could also be a mini-hyperloop if the technology is ready before that time

I have settled on a Monorail/HERT for the following reasons:

 - Subways would be too expensive to justify due to the cost of tunneling and the long distances involved - Something less costly and faster is called for

 - The LRTs the City of Toronto plans to use don't have the capacity and are not fast enough or suitable to cover the long distances

 - None of the roads along my proposed routes are fully (densely) developed yet - Having said this, we need to start planning now - The reason is that the land for track and stations needs to be reserved now

 - The tracks can be slender and unobtrusive if they choose the right system - There are dozens of good proven systems to choose from

NOTES:

-        Bi-pass tracks will be required along some stretches to allow for express as well as local service

-        The only obstructions would be support pylons, and each stop would require elevator as well as stair access

My idea is to also extend it west along Lawrence Avenue and Dixon Road to Toronto Pearson International Airport, Brampton, and Mississauga – [NOTE:  Originally, I was not sure about Tory's plans for rapid transit in the west end - It was always my intention to extend the monorail or HERT further west - Now that I have an idea that Tory plans to go with LRTs in the west end instead of SmartTrack, and a rough idea of the routing, I have extended my proposed Monorail/HERT to coordinate with his plans]

NOTE:  This could also be a mini-hyperloop, if the technology is ready by that time
