Roads and Traffic - GTA - Langstaff MacMillan Railyard Toll Road Tunnel
"My suggestion for them was, for a few $100 million, build a (long overdue) Langstaff MacMillan Railyard Toll Road Tunnel - Do you have any idea how much traffic and revenue this would generate for them?"Phil Prentice
If you live or work anywhere near the area the area bounded by Jane Street, Highway #7, Keele Street, and Rutherford Road, you know that this area is clogged from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM five days a week - Traffic in Vaughan is about to get worse - The new Vaughan Metropolitan Centre subway station can't come soon enough - It's already time to think about extending the Line 1 Spadina Subway to Langstaff Road, Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre at Rutherford Road, and Wonderland at Major Mackenzie Drive West – Also long overdue is a tunnel under the railway yards between Jane and Keele Streets north of Highway #7 – This could be a toll tunnel – It would be a gold mine for anyone willing to take it on!
By the time these improvements come on line, the extension of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway to Vaughan, together with the widening of Major Mackenzie Drive, will not be enough to resolve the traffic and transit issues in Vaughan - At the pace that Vaughan is expanding and developing, they will barely maintain the status quo (if that) - It is time to revisit the concept of building a tunnel under the railway yards in Vaughan
